As we wrapped up our final experience of the year, we had the pleasure of hosting Jaime from Australia, an energetic runner with a big heart and a deep curiosity for Andean culture. What unfolded was one of our most meaningful outings of the season — a full day that combined trail running, breathtaking landscapes, and genuine human connection through our Inca Roots Experience.

The highlight of the day was reaching the traditional Andean community of Pucará. This is a small farming village where life is shaped by the land: potatoes, fava beans, corn, and the rhythms of the seasons.

Here, Jaime was welcomed into the community to learn firsthand about:

  • Traditional farming techniques still used today

  • Daily challenges local farmers face, from climate shifts to market access

  • Community traditions, stories, and the deep cultural ties that keep these villages alive

It was a chance not just to observe, but to connect — to sit, listen, ask questions, and appreciate the resilience and warmth of the people who live here.

Running With Purpose

What makes the Inca Roots Experience special is its balance: moments of effort on the trails paired with moments of reflection in the community. Jaime told us this was exactly the kind of experience he was searching for in Peru — something active, authentic, and meaningful.

For us, it was equally rewarding. These are the days that remind us why we created ReEnergize Cusco Experiences: to help travelers go beyond the typical tourist routes and build real connections with the Andes and its people.
